There are several different equations to use when calculating pH or pOH.

Can I use them in every different scenario, are they all correct? Is there any else?

1) pH=pKa+log[A-/HA] or pOH=pKb+log[B/HB]

2)pH=1/2(pKw+pKa+log(c)) or pOH=1/2(pKw-pKb+log(c)) c for concentration

3)pH=1/2(pKw+pKa-pKb) or pOH=1/2(pKw-pKa+pKb)

Use the pH measurement you made for each NH3 solution to calculate a value of Kb and pKb for NH3. Beaker # pH measured Concentration 1 15.7 1.00M 2 14.4 0.10M 3 13.7 0.01M It seems that I keep getting a negative Kb or pKb value which can not be correct.

1. Calculate the hydrogen ion concentration, [H+ ], for the two weak acids (pH=-log[H+ ], or [H+ ]=antilog (-pH). If you have difficulty finding or using the antilog function on your calculator, simply use this: [H+ ]=10-pH . 2. Calculate the hydroxide ion concentration, [OH- ], for the weak base using this formula: pOH=14-pH, then [OH- ]=antilog (-pOH) or [OH-]=10-pOH. 3. When a solution contains a weak acid and its conjugate base or a weak base and its conjugate acid, it will be a buffer solution. Buffers resist change in pH following the addition of acid or base. A buffer solution prepared from a weak acid (HA) and its conjugate base (A−) is represented as HA(aq)⇌H+(aq)+A−(aq) The buffer will follow Le Châtelier's principle. If acid is added, the reaction shifts to consume the added H+, forming more HA. When base is...

In this assignment, you will be given several different scenarios. You will need to type on a separate sheet of paper which plan type you think would be best for each situation and why you have chosen that plan type. Each scenario will be worth 1 point. There are nine scenarios, so you will receive 1 extra point for turning the assignment in on time. Each scenario will have only one correct answer and you may not use the same...

Can someone please clarify for me the following... I am very confused in chemistry when it comes to orbitals and what exactly they mean and represent. Like let's take a random element.. for example Fe. Iron has an electron configuration of 1s22s22p63s23p64s23d6, but what exactly does that mean? Please answer the following to help me understand: 1. When I read 1s22s22p63s23p64s23d6, does this represent a single electron in Fe or does it represent all of them at once? 2. If...
