Answer #1

The reaction between Sodium Carbonate and Nitric Acid is a typical acid-base reaction and an acid-base reaction always give salt plus solvent as a final product.

The reaction takes place between a strong acid(HNO3  )and salt of a weak base(Na2CO3) which gives salt (NaNO3 )and a weak acid (H 2CO3)and the weak acid further decompose to give water and carbon dioxide.

HNO3 ----> H+ + NO3-

Na2CO3-----> 2 Na+ + CO3-2

H2CO3-----> H2O+CO2

Therefore the net balanced reaction is

2HNO3 + Na2CO3 ------> CO2 + H2O + 2NaNO3
