Balance the following chemical reaction:
C2H5OH + O2 + NH3 --> CH2N0.2O0.5 + CO2 + H2O
Respiratory Quotient = 0.6
ROUND ANSWERS TO 2 DECIMAL PLACES. DO NOT FORGET LEADING ZEROS.
In the righ hand side N atom is 0.2 and so we need 0.2 moles of NH3. Doing so we get total H in LHS is 6+0.2*3=6.6
In RHS we have 2 H in CH2N0.2O0.5. So additional H required is 4.6. Thus 2.3 moles of H2O will be required in RHS.
Now total oxygen in RHS is 0.5+2+2.3=4.8
So we have to take 1.90 moles of O2 which contains 3.8 O atom and one O atom is present in ethyl alcohol
Thus the balanced chemical equation is
C2H5OH+1.90 O2+0.2 NH3=CH2N0.2O0.5+CO2+2.30 H2O
