The purpose of the flame test lab is essentially to identify and know that there are different flame color depending on the metals in solution

This is due to the fact of the electron excitement when borugth up to energy. They get excited and then drop to fewer levels

This makes a light (photon) to show up in the flame.

Each metal has its color but sometimes its difficult to identify (many times even more apparatus such as a cobalt glass filte rmay be needed)

The conclusion are essentially that this is a good tool for indetification of metals in solution; espoecially those that won't precipitate that easiliy such as Alkaline metals
