Note three characteristics which distinguish solid-state phase transformation from other types.

Answer #1

Solid state phase transition has many different and distinct characteristic features from other types i.e solid-liquid phase transition, liquid-gas phase transition.

In solid state phase transition resistance of a material changes due to orientation change in lattice.

Solid state phase transition sometimes gives color whereas other types can not produce color. Thermochromic systems are available now. e.g. Ag2HgI4.

Solid state phase transition always gives a new lattice crystal where the band gaps are different from the initial one.

In 2005, the state legislature of Illinois added the Semi-Solid Waste AcceptanceRegulations(SSWARs) to its State-Wide Semi-Solid Waste Administration Act(SSSSWAA.) These new laws prohibited privately owned landfills in the state from accepting semi-solid waste (e.g., certain types of garbages and rubbishes, sludges, sanitation residues, semisolids, and industrial wastes, etc.) from any source outside the county in which the landfill was located unless expressly permitted by the county.Point Arbors Landfill, Inc., a privately owned business located in Grace County in Illinois, submitted...

Three small objects, a cube, a solid sphere, and a solid cylinder, are released simultaneously from the top of three inclines planes with inclination angles of 15°, 30°, and 60° respectively. The horizontal distances between the top and bottom of the inclines are the same. Assume that the cube slides down without friction while the sphere and cylinder roll down without slipping. Rank the order in which the objects reach the bottom of the inclined planes from first to last?...

Suppose a state is considering three different types of fiscal limits for local governments in the state--a maximum property tax rate, a limit that property tax revenue may not increase more than population and inflation rate together, or a limit that spending may not increase more than five percent. In each case, the limit may be exceeded by majority vote. Which limit is most restrictive and why? Contrast the three in terms of the sources of allowed increases in taxes...
