A. Calculate the volume of 0.50M of HCl required to completely react with 4.0 grams of NaOH.

HCl + NaOH = H2O + NaCl (???)

B. Calculate the volume of 0.10M of NaOH required to completely neutralize 20 mL of 0.15M HCl.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A) no of mol of NaoH = 4/40 = 0.1 mol

   HCl + NaoH ---> NaCl + H2O

1 mol HCl = 1 mol NaOH

no of mol of HCl reacted = 0.1 mol

volume of HCl reacted = n/M = 0.1/0.5 = 0.2 L

    = 200 ml

B) HCl + NaoH ---> NaCl + H2O

no of mol of HCl reacted = 20*0.15/1000 = 0.003 mol

no of mol of NaoH = 0.003 mol

volume of NaOH required = n/M

                        = 0.003/0.1

           = 0.03 L

            = 30 ml
