Gibbs Energy Change (G ), Temperature (T) and an Equilibrium constant (k) are related through the equation,

G = -RTlnk

lnk = - G RT ........ (1)

Given data: G = -24.1 kJ = -24.1 x 1000 J = -24100 J

T = 1000 oC = 1000 + 273.15 = 1273.15 K

Molar gas constant R = 8.314 J.K/mole

Using these values in eq.(1) we get,

lnk = -24100 / (8.314 * 1273.15)

lnk = -2.277

k = e-2.277.

k = 0.103
