What steps should be taken to obtain the melting point of a solid compound that decompose before reaching the melting point?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A solid compound that decompose before reaching the melting point, one has to note the temperature at which compound starts to decompose and try to find melting point of that compound from decomposition temperature.

Some substances have melting point over wide range of temperature so note the temperature at which the decomposition starts or melting of compound starts and note the temperature at which whole compound is decomposed or melts down. tht temperature range is the melting point range of that substance.
