Question

What is the osmotic pressure of a 0.075M solution of aspartic acid at 18.5C?

What is the osmotic pressure of a 0.075M solution of aspartic acid at 18.5C?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Equation for osmotic pressure = MRT

Where:

M is the molar concentration of aspartic acid = 0.075M

R is the ideal gas constant = 0.08206 L atm mol-1 K-1,

T is the temperature = 18.5oC

Convert T into Kelvin scale = 18.5 + 273.15 = 291.65K

The osmotic pressure = MRT

                                        = (0.075mol/L) * (0.08206 L atm mol-1 K-1) * (291.65 K)

           = 1.79496 atm

The osmotic pressure of a 0.075M solution of aspartic acid at 18.5oC is 1.79496 atm

The osmotic pressure of a 0.075M solution of aspartic acid at 18.5oC is 1.79 atm (3sig.fig)
