Usually the solvent moves from the dilute solution to a higher concentrated solution through a semi permeable membrane , by a process called as osmosis. But is pressure more than the osmotic pressure is applied to the high concentrated solution side,the solvent moves out of the concentrated solution into the dilute one. This technology is helpful to make solutions pure , an application used in the purification of water.
