Factors that affect equilibrium:

What do the symbols Kc and Kp represent?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Factors that affect equilibrium:

There are 3 main factors that affect the equilibrium of a reaction: Temperature, pressure, concentration of reactants/products.

Temperature: If the reaction is an exothermic reaction in forward direction, then low temperature is favourable condition. If reaction is an endothermic reaction in forward direction, then high temperature is favourable condition.

Pressure: On increasing preesure of the equilibrium system, reaction moves in from higher moles side to lower moles side.

Concentration: On changing the concentration of reactants/products then equilibrium will shifted in a direction to do undo of the change in reaction.

Kc will indicates the ratio of the concentration of products to that of reactants.

Kp will indicates the ratio of the pressure of products to that of reactants.

Kp = Kc(TR)n

n = gaseous products - gaseous reactants

TYPED ANSWERS ONLY A team of psychologists have developed an experimental treatment program for a learning disorder with the expectation that the treatment would enable recipients to score higher than before on a test of learning ability. To test the treatment, they randomly select a pool of 30 volunteers who have been diagnosed with the disorder and who have volunteered for the treatment program. Following treatment, the participants are retested on the learning ability test and their scores compared to...
