A sample that weights 0.2660 g just contains KCl and NaCl, it’s content of Cl- being 0.1418 g, calculate the percentage of Na y K in the mixture.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Mass of Na+ and K+ = mass of sample - Cl- mass = 0.266-0.1418 = 0.1242 g

Mass % of Na+ and K+ = ( 100 x mass of Na+ and K+ ) / ( sample mass)

                                                  = ( 100 x 0.1242) / ( 0.266) = 46.69 %

A mixture contains only NaCl and Al2(SO4)3. A 1.75-g sample of the mixture is dissolved in water, and an excess of NaOH is added, producing a precipitate of Al(OH)3. The precipitate is filtered, dried, and weighed. The mass of the precipitate is 0.134 g. What is the mass percent of Al2(SO4)3 in the sample?
