The recipe goes on to tell you that for best flavor , the 40% tequila (80 proof) must be diluted to a final concentration of 5%. You want to mix the 600 ml of smilple syrup, 250 ml of lime jucie and enough ice to a total margarita volume of 1800 ml.

How much tequila will you need to add to your recipe ?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Total Volume of margarita= 1800 ml

Vsyrup= 600 ml

Vlime= 250 ml

Total Volume of Margarita = Vsyrup+ Vlime+ V5%tequila (Assume volume of ice as negligible)

1800 = 600+250+V5%tequila

V5%tequila = 950 ml

Now, make alcohol balance since alcohol content is same before and after dilution.

0.05* V5%tequila =  0.40 * X

Where X is volume of tequila before dilution

0.05*950 = 0.40*X

X= (0.05*950)/0.40 = 118.75 ml

So, 118.75 ml of 40% tequila (80 proof) needs to be added to the recipe for best flavour.

After your frustration with tissue culture, you finally get your cells passaged and decide to set up your cDNA synthesis reaction, PCR, and agarose gel. You have extracted RNA from your cells, and now you need to proceed with the cDNA synthesis. The first step is to determine the concentration of your RNA. You dilute your RNA 1:250, vortex it, move it to the cuvette, and run it on the spectrophotometer.   The spec tells you that your concentration of RNA...
