Can anyone explains the idea of ionc liquid ? And how to use ionc liquid as solvent ?

Ionic liquid as the name suggests are salts having +ve and -ve ions in it with have weak interaction between its ions within the system, makes the salts to exist as liquid at room temperature.

Ionic liquid are polar and are used as solvent in a large number of reactions. The reactions in which it is used as solvent are worked up by adding a non-polar organic solvent after the reaction is done. The organics from the reaction are extracted into the organic solvent while leaving the ionic liquid unchanged in the flask.
