Cheap soaps sometimes leave skin feeling/looking dry, and in some cases, raw and blistered. What might cause this effect?
Cheap soap may contain less major portion of fats in it, which does not react completely, hydrolyse with the base during saponification process and thus stick on to the skin making it feel dry. When used in hard water soaps may form solids which are hard to wash off and are left on skin which makes the skin irritable, raw and blistered in some cases. A good soap made for skin does not have more than 5-8% of excess fat in it which makes the skin oily after it is washed off.
