What is the mass of 5mL of vinegar, if the tared mass of a garduated cylinder is 15.254 grams and the total mass is 20.521 grams?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans. Tared mass: Tared mass means the mass of an empty vessel or container.

Here, it is the mass of “empty” graduated cylinder.

So,

Mass of empty cylinder = 15.254 g

Total mass (Tared mass + vinegar) =20.521 g

Mass of vinegar= Total mass – Tared mass

                        = 20.521 g – 15.254 g

                        = 5.267 g

Hence the mass of 5.0 mL vinegar = 5.267 g

Vinaigrette salad dressing consists mainly of oil and vinegar. The density of olive oil is 0.918 g/cm3, the density of vinegar is 1.006 g/cm3, and the two do not mix. If a certain mixture of olive oil and vinegar has a total mass of 400.0 g and a total volume of 425.0 cm3 , what is the volume of oil and what is the volume of vinegar in the mixture? Express your answer using two significant figures.

A solid cylinder has a mass of 100 kg and radius 0.225m. The cylinder is attached to a frictionless horizontal axle. A long (light weight) cable is wrapped around the cylinder. Attached to the end of the cable is a 1.50 kg mass. The system is initially stationary. The hanging mass is then released. The mass pulls on the cable as it falls and this causes the cylinder to rotate. a) What is the velocity of the hanging mass after...
