Air contains about 1% water by volume. Determine the partial pressure of water at that given conditions.

Answer #1

Given

1% water by volume

ie.., 1gr of water is dissolved in 100ml of air

therefore concentration of water = number of moles of water / volume (lit) = n / v

                                                          = (1/18) / 0.1 lit

we know

PV = nRT

P of water = (n/v) R T

   = (0.555) * 0.0821 * 298 K

= 13.5921 atm
