Volumetric Pipet Procedure:
Order the steps for the procedure for using the volumetric pipet to deliver a fixed volume of water. 1-First Step, 8-Last Step.
( )Before starting make sure that the pipet is clean and is not chipped.
( )When done, rinse pipet with tap water and then distilled water before storing.
( )Now fill the pipet with liquid to above the calibration mark or line with suction from bulb -- without getting liquid in the bulb.
( )Drain freely into the receiver container, wait 5 seconds after flow stops and touch off last drop to transfer all of the calibrated volume.
( )Before starting the transfer rinse the pipet by partially filling it with liquid to be delivered-- do not get liquid in bulb.
( )Wipe the excess liquid off the lower stem and tip of pipet. (This step before the final adjustment of the meniscus level to the mark).
( )Remove bulb and immediately cover the top of the pipet stem with your index finger.
( )Adjust level so the bottom of the meniscus is on the calibration mark by slow release of pressure.
