is it necessary that compounds be colored to be seperated by chromotography?
It is not necessary that compound we are separating by chromatography are coloured.as chromatography is a technique which deals with the speration of compounds from the stationary and mobile phase according to their charge, solubility and the molecular weight .
Let's take an example if some of the sample is colourless and it has molar mass more than the coloured one so in the stationary phase the colourless compounds stays more as it do not move fast as the coloured compound do as colourless is the one having more molar mass so it depends on several factors as Rf value, molar mass, charge , solubility etc. It does not depend on the Colour of the sample.
