Magnetism is a class of physical phenomena that are mediated by magnetic fields. Magnetism is caused by either electric current or Spin magnetic moments of elementary particles.

3 different types of magnetism:

paramegnetism: They possess permanent magnetic moment due to unpaired electrons in partailly filled orbital
Diamagnetism: They opposed applied magnetic field and hence are repelled by a magnetic field
Ferromagnetism : They posses a permanent magnetic moment even in the absence of magnetic field
