CH4 + 2O2 CO2 + 2H2O

According to the balanced equation : 2O2 1CO2

which means : 1O2 1/2 CO2

1 mole O2 will give 1/2 mole CO2

Say 100 g of O2 was used.

Number of moles of O2 = Mass / Molar mass

= 100 g /31.9988 g = 3.125 moles

3.13 moles will give 1/2 * 3.125 moles CO2 = 1.56 moles CO2

1.56 moles CO2 = 1.56 mole * 44.0098 g/mole = 68.78 g CO2
