After 3 titration trials of H2SO4 by adding NaOH, I got:
21.2
33.5
49.4
How do I get the concentration of H2SO4 with these numbers?
Hope these are final burette readings.
1. Subtract final reading value from initial burette reading value to get actual volume of NaOH used in the titration.
2. Average these actual volume values by adding three values and divide the sum by 3
i.e (Trial-1+Trial-2+Trial-3) / 3 = average NaOH volume in mL
3. H2SO4 + 2NaOH --> 2 NaCl + 2H2O is the balanced chemical reaction equation
4. Use M1V1/n1 = M2V2/n2 formula
M1 = NaOH concentration in M; M2 = H2SO4 concentration in M (to be calculated)
V1 = Average NaOH volume in mL; V2 = H2SO4 volume in volumetric flask (below burette) in mL, generally it will be 20 mL or 10 mL
n1 = moles NaOH = 2 ; n2 = moles H2SO4 = 1
5. Final formula M2 = (M1V1/n1) x (n2/V2), substitute the values to get H2SO4 concentration M2 in M.
Hope this helped you!
