What does PCC do (organic chem)
PCC, or pyridinium chlorochromate, is an oxidizing reagent used to oxidize primary alcohols into aldehydes, and secondary alcohols into ketones. Unlike the Jones Reagent, PCC does not fully oxidize a primary alcohol into a carboxylic acid.PCC offers the advantage of the selective oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes, whereas many other reagents were less selective.
