Write the acid form of the four equations describing a 10^-2 molar solution of methylamine (CH3NH2, kb = 5.25 x 10^-4). DO NOT SOLVE. What is the pH of this solution?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Base concentration = (Kb*C)^1/2

                                = sqrt(5.25*10^-4*0.01)

                                = 0.00229

pOH = -log(0.00229)

        = 2.64

pH = 14-2.64 = 11.36
