The molecular weight of a certain chemical is 50

Describe how to make 500ml of a 0.1M solution of the chemical

Homework Answers

Answer #1

this type of problems our main objective is to determine the mass of the substance which we need to weigh

molecular weight = 50 g / mol

volume = 500 mL = 0.5 L

molarity = 0.1 M

moles = molarity x volume

             = 0.1 x 0.5

            = 0.05

moles = mass / molar mass

0.05 = mass / 50

mass = 2.5 g

2.5 g solute dissolved in 500 mL of the water we can make 0.1 M solution
