A 38.1493 gallon tank is filled with 0 degree Ethyl Acetate. How much 0 degree alcohol much be replaced with the same amount of 80 degree alcohol to result in a final temperature of 32 degrees?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

How much 0⁰ degree Ethyl Acetate must be replaced with the same amount of 80⁰ Ethyl Acetate to result in a final temperature of 32 degrees

The answer is

Let the amount of 0⁰ degree ethyl acetate replace with ethyl acetate of 80⁰ degree is x

Then amount of 0⁰ degree ethayl acetate will be = 38.193- x gallon

now 0⁰ degree = 273 K

80⁰ degree = 273 + 80 = 353 K

32 ⁰ degree = 273 + 32 = 305 K

so final temperatre will be due to both ethyl acetate =

273 X amount of ethyl acetate at this temperature - 353 X amount of ethyl acetate at this temperature / total ethyl acetate

305 = 273 X (38.1493 -x) + 353 x / 38.1493

11635.53 = 10414.75 - 273x + 353x

1220.78 = 80 x

x = 15.259 so this much amout should be converted to 80⁰ degree ethyl acetate
