What conditions are required for a strong base to be involved in a Sn2 reaction?
Condition 1) The strong base to be used in SN2 reaction as a nucleophile must be nucleophilic eough.
Condition 2) While using strong base as ucleophile in SN2 the solent must be Aprotic other wise the strong basicity play better role and convrt strong base into corresponding acid which will be relatively poor nucleophile.
Condition 3) The would be departing group must be weak nucleophile and substrate must be such that it gives less stable 1o or 2o carbocation.
