Question

how do i find yield of crude product obtained in the reaction? and how do i find theoretical yield in grams and percent yield. let's say my grams after recrystallization is .769 grams . I converted acetanilide to p-bromoacetanilide. I have a recyrstallized p-bromoacteanilide after finsihing the experiement. I want to know this infomration for my 0.769 grams of p-bromoactenalidie that i have after finsihging the xperiment.

Answer #1

You have 0.769 gram of p-bromoactenalidie after experiment.

It is experimental value. Now calculate the mass of p-bromoactenalidie theoretical on page by using reaction. By theoretical value you will be able to know how much p-bromoactenalidie should be formed. I think theoretical value of mass should be greater than experimental value. Now calculate the percent yield by dividing experimental value by the theoretical value.

Percent yield = experimental value * 100 / theoretical value

Bromination of acetanilide and 4-methylacetanilide
1.) How do you perform limiting reactant, theoretical yield, and
percent yield calculations involving multiple reaction steps
2.) What is the advantage of recrystallizing your product from a
1:1 aqueous ethanol solution rather than using ethanol alone?
KBro3 + 6HBr = 3H20 + 3Br2 + KBr
calculate limiting reactant, theoretical yield and percent
yield? i used 0.265g of 1.8mmol of 4-methylacetanilide and added
0.110g of potassium bromate and 0.45ml of hydrobromic acid

2. You have carried out a synthesis reaction and isolated the
solid crude product. Scrutiny of its 1H NMR spectrum indicates the
presence of an impurity, which you estimate to be approximately
6-8% of the total sample. You decide to purify it via
recrystallization and know that you will first need to determine
which solvent or solvent pair would be suitable. Describe what you
would do and how you would evaluate your results. What properties
of the solvent would you...

How do I find the freezing point? For example, in an
experiment I used 10 grams of lauric acid and heated it and cooled
it (Part A). Afterwards, I heated and cooled the same lauric acid
(Part B). A question have is calculate the freezing point of lauric
acid from Part A and Part B. How would I do this?

find p(a|b) and find p(b|a) if p(a)=.5 p(b)=.6 and p(a
∩ b)=.4
how do I know if A and B are independent?

How to calculate limiting reagent and percent yield?
4-methylcyclohexanol -->
4-methylcyclohexene
I used 23 mL 4-methylcyclohexanol and 5 mL of Phosphoric acid.
Do we use phosphoric acid to calculate theoretical yield if it is a
catalyst? If we do then my percent yield comes out to be like 160%
which is wrong because I have to use the limiting reagent which
would be phosphoric acid. What do I do?
23mL 4-methylcyclohexanol (.914g/1mL) = 21g
21g (1mol/114.2g) = .184 mol
.184...

I am struggling to understand how to find what is the reagent
used in a reaction. I have these 4 problems and I must figure out
what "reagent used in reaction". My classmate described the reagent
as the ractant that is entirly consumed when a reaction goes to
completion. It determines how much of a product you can make.
Cu(s) + 4 HNO3 (aq) –> Cu(NO3)2 (aq) + 2NO2 (g) + 2H20

how do I find the equivalance point and half-equivalance point
