Answer #1

Starch Borate Forms gel and break down gel particle to 10-35 mesh size which is suitable for drying. It has operating pH range of 9-11 and final pH range of 7.2-8.5. It is helpful in encapsulation of acid labile and alkali labile molecules.

Starch/PVA/glycerol blend increases water absorption capacity of film i.e. helpful in releasing of active molecule in wet environment.

Starch/PVA/Glycerol is biodegradable in presence of fungi and bacteria only remaining portion is non-amorphous region of PVA.

There are a number of drugs in clinical development that bind to LFA-1 and modulate its interaction with ICAM-1. These drugs do not prevent the binding of LFA-1 to ICAM, but rather increase the dissociation rate of LFA-1 from ICAM-1 (i.e. make LFA-1 fall off of ICAM-1 faster). What effect would such a drug have on T-cell function? Speculate for what conditions/pathologies this drug might be beneficial. Explain
