The vapor pressure of a compound is the amount of pressure exerted by it's vapor at a given temperature , when the compound is placed in closed system.
SInce the temperature causes the mrlting or boiling of the compound , which causes its subsequent evaporation. The compound in its gas phase exerts pressure on the walls of the compound if more and more heat is given to the system . More the temperature , more will be the vapor pressue . At the boiling point of the compound , the vapor pressure becomes equal to the pressure of the surroundings.
