Question

Does a reaction with a positive ΔS and a positive ΔH favor reactants or products?

Does a reaction with a positive ΔS and a positive ΔH favor reactants or products?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

ΔH = posirtive

ΔS = posiitve

reactant / product favour depends on temperature here at high temperature products and at low temperature reactants are favoured . this can be explained based on gibbs-helmholtz equation

ΔG = ΔH - T ΔS

for products favour ΔG < 0

for reactant favour ΔG > 0

if    T ΔS > ΔH the reaction favours products (at high temperature)

      T ΔS < ΔH the reaction favours reactants (at low temperature)
