why are some bases are less soluble than others? how does the solubility of a compound affect an antiacid's to neutralize excess stomach acid?
Strong base are less soluble ( calcium hydroxide, barrium hydroxide etc )because these compounds dissociates completely.so a point will be reached when no more these compounds will be soluble when we add more of these compounds( because they had dissolved their maximum limit).
To neutralize excess stomach acid ie, hydrochloric acid we take antiacid.Antiacid work on the principle acid react with alkali to form salt and water.
Example of antiacid calcium carbonate, aluminum hydroxide etc
Antiacid help us from heart burn.
