Question

how to increase the reaction rate of an aspirin synthesis reaction?

how to increase the reaction rate of an aspirin synthesis reaction?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans.

Aspirin is prepqared from the reaction of salicylic acid and acetic anhydrid to form Aspirin and acetic acid

acetic Acid is easily soluble in water. So we can easily separate aspirin.

  • We can add catalyst to this reaction for the reaction fast then also increase the rate of reaction.
  • Increase the temparature also increase the rate of reaction. In this the excess anhydride is present to reach equillibrium to heat the solution.
  • The purity of product also increases rate of reaction. The product purity increases then also reaction rate also increase.
