A sample of an ideal gas has a volume of 3.70 L at 11.20 °C and 1.30 atm. What is the volume of the gas at 18.20 °C and 0.997 atm?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Initial volume V1 = 3.7L

initial pressure P1 = 1.3atm

initial temperature T1 = 11.2C0 = 11.2 + 273 = 284.3 K

Fianl volume V2 =

Final pressure P2 = 0.997atm

Final temperature T2 = 18.2C0 = 18.2 + 273 = 291.2 K

       From ideal gas law

             P1V1/T1     = P2V2/T2

        V2    = P1V1T2/T1P2

                 = 1.3*3.7*291.2/284.3*0.997

                = 5186.272/283.4471 = 18.3 L

volume of gas is 18.3 L
