Write balanced net ionic equations for each of following reactions:

a) Dissolving solid Fe(OH)3 in hydrochloric acid.

b) The precipitation of barium chromate, BaCrO4.

c) The dissolving of Al(OH)3 in excess NaOH.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

a) Dissolving solid Fe(OH)3 in hydrochloric acid.

   Fe(OH)3 + 3 HCl ------------------> FeCl3 (s) + 3H2O

Net ionic equation : Fe3+ + 3Cl- ------------->   FeCl3 (s)

b) The precipitation of barium chromate, BaCrO4.

Ba(OH)2 + K2CrO4 -------------> BaCrO4 (s) + 2 KOH

   Net ionic equation : Ba2+ + CrO42- ------------> BaCrO4

c)  dissolving of Al(OH)3 in excess NaOH.

  Al(OH)3 + 3NaOH -------------> Na3Al (s) + 3H2O

Net ionic equation : Al3+ + 3Na+ -------------->  Na3Al
