What do you mean by Resonance effect? Arrange the following species according to increasing Inductive effect: (CH3)3C—, (CH3)2CH—, —C2H5, —CH3

Answer #1

1) More no of alkyl groups , more will be the positive inductive effect i.e +I effect.

Alkyl groups are electron donating groups i.e +I groupos.

Hence,

  increasing Inductive effect CH3 < C2H5 < (CH3)2CH < (CH3)3C

2) Resonance effect :

It is characteristic of conjugated double bonds of unsaturated compounds.

It is typically found in unsaturated conjugated organic compounds of the double bonds type but can also occur in conjugated systems that contain triple bonds.
