a sample of trinitrotoluene has a chemical formula of c7h5n3o6. if a 250mL sample of TNT has 1.10*10^24 molecules within it, what is the density of TNT?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Density = Mass / Volume

Volume given = 250ml

No. of molecules = 1.10 x 1024

No. of moles = N / NA

N= number of molecules and NA = Avogadro's Number (6.022 x 1023 mol-1)

No. of moles = 1.10 x 1024 / 6.022 x 1023

                     = 1.82 moles

mass = no. of moles x molecular mass (trinitrotoluene)

         = 1.82 x 227.13 = 413.37 grams

Density = 413.37 / 250 = 1.65 g/ml
