Organic compounds that contain nitrogen are usually acidic.
A) True
B)False
False.
Organic compounds can have nitrogen in varoius functional groups like nitro(-NO2) , amino(NH2) or imine or amide .
When the nitrogen is in the nitro group, there is a possibility that the alpha hydrogen is acidic due to strong electron withdrawing capacity of nitro group.
But if the nitroen is a part of amino group, most of the times the organic compound is basic rather than acidc.
If it were a part of amide frunctional group. the compound is neutral.
If the nitrogen is as imine or imide , again the compound may be acidic.
thus we cannot generalise that organic compounds with nitrogen are acidic.
