a) HNO3 is a strong acid because it dissociate completely as-

HNO3 + H2O ----> H3O+   + NO3-

pH = - log [H3O+]= - log[ 0.012] = 1.9208

C)HCl is strong acid.

HCl + H2O---> H3O+ + Cl-

pH = -log [ H3O+] = - log [8.96x10^-3] = 2.047

b) Mg(OH)2 s ----> Mg^2+ + 2 OH-

I    0.013M            0            0

C- 0.013M             0.013      2x 0.013

pOH = -log [OH-] = - log [ 0.026] = 1.585

pH = 14 - pOH = 14- 1.585 = 12. 415
