In GC, sample is “blown past” the stationary phase by a carrier gas, and interacts with the packing material it passes…similar to the Brita filter process, except the passing sample does not stick permanently to the packing material (the way it does in Brita). What will happen to the success of the sample separation if the mobile phase is moving too fast?
