Please explain and define distillation.

How does distillation relate to global warming?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

distillation is a technique used to separate 2 or more substances due to their difference in volatily/boiling points

the distillate (the most volatile) goes to the top and to the bottom products the least volatile

distiallation is important in global wartming since it requires a huge amount of energy for:

pre heating substances in the feed

heating the substances in th ebottom size, for forced volatilization

cooling the distillate in order to condense the volatile product

this energy requirements are normally used from fossil fuel, therefore, CO2 emmissions
