In your own words, explain Faraday’s fundamental laws of electrolysis.
There are two faraday laws given by Micheal Faraday.
1st law states that, amount of chemical substance deposited at the electrode is directly propotional to the quantity of electricity passed through it.
i.e; mass of chemical deposited (m) is propotional to quantity of electricity passed (Q).
Second law states that; when the same quantity of electricity is passed through several electrolytes, the mass of the substances deposited are proportional to their respective chemical equivalent or equivalent weight.
Chemical equivalent = atomic weight / valency
