Cis and trans isomers are geometrical isomers of each other, where, if the like groups are present towards the same side of the double bond then it is called as cis-isomer and if they are present towards the opposite side then it is called as trans- isomer.

However, optical isomers that have non super imposable mirror image relatioship are called as enantiomers. In oreder to have an enantiomeric relation the isomer must have a mirror image relationship.
