Conclusion of calibration of volumetric Glassware

The use of calibrated volumetric glassware is very important in a chemical laboratory in order to ensure that any volumes measured are known with a certain degree of accuracy. Beakers and graduated cylinders are generally calibrated to contain the liquids while most pipettes and burettes are calibrated to deliver the liquids. Volumetric glassware is calibrated at a specific temperature, but generally used to deliver or contain volumes at a different temperature. So there is variances in volumetric measurement.

You are required to prepare standards for a calibration curve. All of the glassware and pipettes your method requires have a tolerance (RSD) of 0.15%. You start with a working solution of 0.17M analyte (assume there is no error in the concentration of the working solution). Remove 10.0 mL of that solution with a pipette, add it to a 100.0 mL volumetric flask and dilute it to the mark. Remove 25.0 mL of the newly prepared (diluted) standard, add to...

You need to perform a 1:25 dilution of a certain solution- what glassware will you need to make this dilute solution? (Note: assume you have only- 5.00,10.00,15.00 & 20.00 mL volumetric pipets, and 25.00 & 50.00 mL volumetric flasks. Also, draw a diagram.

Volumetric Pipet Procedure: Order the steps for the procedure for using the volumetric pipet to deliver a fixed volume of water. 1-First Step, 8-Last Step. ( )Before starting make sure that the pipet is clean and is not chipped. ( )When done, rinse pipet with tap water and then distilled water before storing. ( )Now fill the pipet with liquid to above the calibration mark or line with suction from bulb -- without getting liquid in the bulb. ( )Drain...

1. Determine the most accurate and precise piece of glassware devise a plan that will let you determine which is more accurate and precise at measuring a liquid volume: a pipet or a buret. you will have the following at your disposal: distilled water, the contents of your cabinet and shared drawer, analytical balances, density of water at various temperatures chart, and thermometers. making sure you have at least three measurements for each piece of glassware. You will need to...
