If you isolate .26 g of Phenacetin, what volume of water is required to dissolve it?

what is the solubility of Phenacetin? (g/100ml)

What is the solubility of Acetanilide (g/100ml)

**Please show work, I am confused.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Water Solubility of Phenacetin = 0.076 g/100 mL

Water Solubility of Acetanilide = 0.56 g/100 mL

These two values are based on literature. For these values no explanation is there, these are experimental values.

Now,

Water Solubility of Phenacetin = 0.076 g/100 mL

So,

0.076 g of Phenacetin dissolves in water of volume = 100 mL'

1 g of Phenacetin dissolves in water of volume = (100 / 0.076) mL'

0.26 g of Phenacetin dissolves in water of volume = 0.26 x (100 / 0.076) mL' = 342.10 mL
