Question

Kr, Sr2+, Br-, Rb+, Se2- Which has the largest radius? Which has the highest ionization energy?...

Kr, Sr2+, Br-, Rb+, Se2-

Which has the largest radius? Which has the highest ionization energy?

K-O, Na-Cl, As-F, Si-Br, C-N

Which bond is most ionic? Which bond is most covalent?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

All the species are isoelectronic and that species which has more negative charge will have largest radius. Thus Se2- will have largest radius (effective nuclear charge is minimum in Se2-)

Sr2+ have highest value of ionization this is because Sr2+ hase lost both of its valence electron and have stable electronic configuration

Most ionic is K-O bond. this is because they have largest electronegativity differenve ( 2.7)

C-N bond is most covalent. this is because they have least value of electrnegativity difference(0.5)
