Answer #1

In step 2a - The second time I decant do I discard the supernatant and how do I make neutral.

Solution :- In the first step 6M HCl is used there fore solution is acidic to make it neutral you can use the NaOH solution but the pH should be checked by the pH paper to maintain the neutral pH so the only required amount of NaOH should be added so while adding the NaOH pH should be checked.

is 5 drops of NaOH good

Solution :- 5 drops of NaOH are good enough to precipitate out the Al3+ ions if present in the solution.

How do a get a few drop of the solution containing only Al3+?

solution :- To get the only Al3+ solution you can use aluminium nitrate solution which is soluble and have Al3+ ions.

Is five drops of NH3 good?

solution :- 5 drom NH3 are enough to precipitate out the Fe3+ ions if present any to give the oragish color precipitate so the 5 drop NH3 is enough.

Hello I have a question about organic chemistry 1 lab. When doing chemical tests the Br2 in CCl4. Shows a positive result for alkenes and alkynes? And negative test results mean a alkene and/or arene? I’m told in lab that we do not have potassium permanganate so we cannot use it. The second test that were told to preform if nothing else is shown on the IR is a halide test. I hope this makes sense. I’m just confused about...

Part I So in chemistry lab, we made soap. At some point we had to vacuum filter DI water out of the soap until it was pretty much dry. Why is it necessary to filter out all the DI water? Or if it's not necessary, then why is that? Part II Illustrate (draw) how soap interacts with grease and water. Identify each part of the soap molecule and describe why soap can remove grease from your hands. Part III Fe3+,...
