a) Which amino acid(s) can make ionizable interactions with Tyrosine?

b) Which amino acid(s) can make ionizable interactions with Arginine?

c) Which amino acid(s) can make ionizable interactions with Histidine?

d) Which amino acid(s) can make ionizable interactions with Cysteine?

For example, Aspartate and Glutamate can make ionizable interactions with Lysine.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1. The tyrosine has OH which can be ionised in highly basic environments.

based on above statement i think :

Tyrosine can makeionozale interaction with arginine. However, tyrosine is non-polar and interact with hydrogen bonding or van der waal interaction.

2. Arginine has a basic side chain can make ionizable interaction with aspartate, tyrosine.

3. Histidine can meke ionizable interaction with aspartate, arginine., glutamic acid

4. cysteine form disulphide bonds in peptide. therefore i think would not make ionic interaction with any other amino acid

Note: Acidic amino acids like (Asp, Glu) and basic amino acids like (Arg, Lys, His) amino acids take part in charge-charge interactions or ionizable interacion as they are charged.
