At 2000 ?C the equilibrium constant for the reaction

2NO(g)???N2(g)+O2(g)

is Kc=2.4

Homework Answers

Answer #1

2NO   <------------------------> N2+ O2

0.180                                      0        0 -----------------> initial

0.180 -2x                                x           x ------------------> equilibrium

Kc= [N2][O2]/[NO]^2

    2.4 x10^2 = (x)(x)/(0.180 -2x )^2

x= 0.0899

equlibrium concenentration

[NO]=0.180 -2x = 0.180 - 2 x 0.0899 = 2 x 10^-4M

[NO]= 2 x 10^-4M

[N2] = x = 0.0899M

[O2] = x = 0.0899M
