Synthesis of Aspirin..... Calculate the mass of aspirin that you isolated (it was 0.292 grams) and convert the mass to moles of aspirin. What is the Theoretical Yield of aspirin in moles in this experiment? What was the percent yield of your reaction? I Started with 1.089 grams Salicylic Acid

Homework Answers

Answer #1

no of moles of Salicylic Acid = weight of Salicylic Acid / molar mass of Salicylic Acid

= 1.089 / 138.03

= 0.00788 moles

if you observed the balanced equation

one mole of Salicylic Acid will give ome mole of Asprin

theretically 0.00788 moles of asprin will come

but you got the 0.292 grams of Asprin

no of moles of Asprin = 0.292 / 180.04

= 0.00162 moles this you got experimetally

no of % of yield = experimetal mmoles / theritical mmoles x 100

= 0.00162 / 0.00788 x 100

= 20.58 %
